August Focus: Intentions

My focus for this August will be to accomplish the goals I have set for myself. Setting my intentions on what I want to achieve this upcoming fall.  I am job hunting, detoxing my mind and my body, and being intentional in all that I do. I recently purchased the book “Whole Beauty” by Shiva Rose. The book talks a lot about daily routines and how people tend to rush through their morning or nighttime routines, these routines can easily be turned into daily rituals that promote self-love and self-care. Throughout this month I would love to practice creating these daily rituals that strengthen my mind, body, and soul. I am starting out August with a fresh mindset and will continue to practice good and positive intentions in all that I do.

The first goal I have set for myself is a 10 day detox:

No sugar, dairy, grains, or alcohol.

How to make a perfect cheese board when you don’t know anything about cheese!

  8. Crackers or crusty bread

Extra special touch:

  1. A cute cutting board or a marble surface

Three Ways to Style Yellow Shoes.

Yellow has always been a color that I have liked, mostly because it is just a happy color. This spring season I have been loving yellow as a pop color!! I bought some yellow sandals from Forever 21 for just $25! At first, a statement piece like yellow shoes seemed hard to style but here are three ways that I styled these shoes that totally changed up the way the shoes looked.

  1. Easter Sunday look: For this look I paired the yellow shoes with a white floral mini dress, perfect for Easter brunch!
  2. Casual lunch/dinner look: I paired the shoes with black jeans and a white polka dot off the shoulder crop.
  3. Date night look: For this look I paired the yellow shoes with some of my favorite flow-y striped pants and a black crop top with a jean jacket. It was a great outfit for watching the sunset and dinner.

April Focus: Change

I have seen many brands and blogs embrace something specific each month and I began to do this in my own life as well. I have been thinking about what I want my focus to be this April and came across some inspiration from College Fashionista. I decided to use their focus as my own. Change. So many people are afraid of change including myself. I tend to fall into patterns that feel comfortable and feel safe staying there.  This month I am challenging myself (and you all) to embrace the change this season.

With graduation right around the corner I am getting ready to start a new chapter in my life. I refuse to let myself be afraid of the unknown future and this month I am going to create new positive habits that I will be able to carry into the rest of the year. I think that it is so important to constantly be bettering yourself, whatever that might look like. I am going to take this Spring season of rebirth and make it an opportunity to grow physically and mentally.

Instead of freaking out, embrace these moments to turn all those dreams and little “somedays” into “todays.” Explore a new activity. Shed your fear and bust out of your proverbial shell. Make plans for the future. Grow and blossom.

5 Best Gifts for the Boyfriend.

Coming from a family with three sisters it was kind of hard for me to think of gift ideas for Charlie, when we started dating. Now that we have been dating for so long I think that I have gotten much better at coming up with gift ideas. I used to use Pinterest constantly to search for ideas. Here are some of the best gifts that I have given Charlie that he loved (or told me he loved 😉 )

Christmas Gift

Monogrammed Cozy Robe & Mens UGG slippers: I purchased a navy blue mens robe at Nordstroms Rack and took it to T-shirt Cannery to have them monogram his name on the robe.  I ordered the mens UGG slippers online. We exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve so it was the perfect gift because he was able to wear them first thing Christmas morning.

Valentines Day Gift

A scrap book of pictures, old letters, tickets, and other memories: I bought an old book from an antique shop and decided to add in our pictures, old tickets to movies or events, and wrote letters and memories we have had on each of the pages. This is a unique gift because it wasn’t just a scrap book it looks like a normal antique book but when you flip through the pages it is all of our memories laid out in order. It is still special to us because Charlie has now written me notes in the book and we continue to add in all of our memories.

Birthday Gift

A Catalina Trip: for Charlie’s 21st birthday I booked us a trip to Catalina, which I talk about  in another post. A trip or an event, such as a concert or an amusement park is always a fun gift idea because it is something that you two can share together as well as always remember.

Off to college Gift

A basket filled with a framed picture of us, a candle, new sweat pants, snacks, and “open when…” letters. This is a gift idea that was fun and easy to make. I just went to Target and got a basket, some snacks, a candle, and a frame. I printed out a picture of us for the frame to go up in his college dorm room. The sweats were from PacSun. The “open when…” letters was an idea that I found on Pinterest, I had about 10 letters with a title on each envelope stating “Open when you miss me”, “Open when you need a good laugh”, “Open when you need motivation”, etc. Inside each one was a hand written letter about the topic. I think his favorite had to be the “Open when you’re hungry” and it was filled with Jersey Mikes free sub coupons.

Just because Gift

Italian leather wallet: When I was abroad I traveled around and shopped (mostly for myself 😉 ) in almost every country that I visited.  When I went to Florence, Italy I decided to buy Charlie a nice leather wallet and give it to him when he came to visit it me in Ireland, just as an ‘I missed you gift’!! He really liked it and appreciated it and he still uses it today!
